Tattooing, Permanent Cosmetics & Piercing Program
All individuals who perform tattooing, permanent cosmetics and body piercing (body art) activities within the county are registered with the Amador County Health Department. California Health and Safety Code requires the registration of these activities. Amador County Environmental Health Department conducts the inspections and helps the Health Department to regulate these facilities.
This program provides guidance for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment during body art activities. The goal of this program is to prevent exposure to blood borne pathogens (pathogenic organisms found in blood that can cause disease in humans), such as, the Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus, and HIV.
